SEOUL, August 30 (Yonhap) -- “(Korean) Hello. I am Hsu Kuang-han. I thank every one of my Korean fans. I truly hope you guys do well with my heart, and thank you a lot for liking me. (Chinese) I memorized that.”
Hsu Kuang-han, a singer and an actor from Taiwan, visited S.Korea to hold his first fan meeting since his debut.
Hsu Kuang-han greeted each reporters who came to his interview at one hotel in Seoul saying “hello” in Korean while meeting their eyes. He also used Korean as much as he could such as “tastes good,” “sorry,” and “I love you” during the interview.
When the actor was asked if he could speak Korean, he said “Zero” smiling. He continued, “Although I can’t learn Korean now because I am busy with schedule, I will study once I go back.”
He also said, “I have two sisters who love Korea so much that they recommend me to go to Korea, so I visited Korea a lot.”
He enjoys watching Korean contents and is interested in Korean culture so much that he listens to singers “Hyukoh” and “offonoff” a lot.
He seemed to be familiar with Korean cultural contents, answering “Sol Kyung-gu,” “Song Kang-ho,” “Kim Yoon-seok,” and “Yoo Ah-in” without a hesitation when asked who is his favorite actor.
Hsu Kuang-han said he especially enjoyed tvN drama “Our Blues,” which just ended, and mentioned Bang Ho-sik (Choi Young-joon) and Jeong In-kwon (Park Ji-hwan), teen couple’s fathers, as his favorite characters.
He said, “ ‘Our Blues’ depicts ordinary people’s stories very delicately, and It was really nice and impressive to focus on one character in each episodes and tell their stories.
Hsu Kuang-han will hold his first fan meeting after the debut at Daeyang hall in Sejong university, Seoul on Sept. 3-4. Tickets for his fan meeting were sold in 5 minutes after it opened, proving his popularity in Korea.
He said, “I think Korean contents are at a global level, and korean songs are leading the global trend,” adding, “I am honored to hold my first fan meeting in Korea.”
Hsu Kuang-han rose to stardom with Taiwanese drama “Someday or One Day” (2019), showing first love like appearance everyone dreams of. He became a teen star representing Taiwan, after being on movies “Hijra in Between” (2021) and “My Love” (2021), a remake of Korean movie “On Your Wedding Day.”
Drama “Someday or One day” became a hit, almost creating a syndrome in Korea. Korean version drama will soon be released on Netflix.
He said, “I never expected to receive so much love when I was filming ‘Someday or One Day,’” adding, “My mindeset for life has changed after the drama.”
“I was happy but also tired after receiving so much love. But I was able to understand myself better while trying to balance myself. By looking back, I was able to find which way I should go from now on.”
