SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Yonhap) -- SEVENTEEN has received a "million" certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, setting a new record among K-pop artists.

 

Pledis Entertainment said Monday that the group's 2023 Japanese best album "ALWAYS YOURS" surpassed cumulative shipments of 1 million copies last month, earning the "million" certification from the Japanese association.

 

This marks SEVENTEEN's fourth "million" certification, following its first Japanese mini album "DREAM," 10th Korean mini album "FML" and 11th mini album "SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN." According to the agency, it is the most "million" certifications earned by any K-pop artist to date.

 

"We're grateful and honored to receive another piece of good news following 'SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN's' 'million' certification last month," SEVENTEEN said. "Please continue to support us warmly as we'll show you various activities going forward."

 

The Recording Industry Association of Japan grants certifications each month based on cumulative album shipments: gold for 100,000 or more copies, platinum for 250,000 or more, double platinum for 500,000 or more, triple platinum for 750,000 or more, and million for 1 million or more.

 

Meanwhile, IVE's fourth Japanese mini album "LUCID DREAM," ATEEZ's fifth Japanese single "BAD" and NCT WISH's third Japanese single "YO-I-DON!/BOY MEETS GIRL" each received platinum certification.

 

aespa's second Japanese mini album "KISS N TELL," ILLIT's second Japanese single "I Got Your Back" and "Portfolio," the first best album by NiziU, a Japanese localized group created by JYP Entertainment, each received gold certification.
