SEOUL, May 12 (Yonhap) -- K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment will launch its new girl group Baby Monster this fall, the agency confirmed Friday.
The rookie girl group has been confirmed to be a septet, consisting of Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram, Pharita, Rora, and Asa.
Baby Monster will be the first group that the agency’s chief producer Yang Hyun-suk showcases after returning to his position in more than three years. It will also be YG's first girl group project in seven years since BLACKPINK made its breakout debut.
The agency initially planned to hold a public vote to narrow down the group’s final members. Instead, YG wrapped up its project by having all seven members debut as a group.
“Asa and Rora, who have been confirmed to join the group at the last minute, are members chosen by our YG fans,” said Yang in a statement uploaded on his official blog.
Baby Monster plans to continue gearing up for its debut scheduled this fall, and will be joining the music scene as a group or unit.
