SEOUL, Feb. 26 (Yonhap) -- Singer-songwriter and producer BUMZU, known for his work with K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN, ranked No. 1 in music royalties last year.
The Korea Music Copyright Association said Thurssday it presented BUMZU with grand prizes in the pop lyrics and composition categories at the 12th KOMCA Copyright Awards, held Wednesday at COEX Magok Convention Center in Seoul.
The annual awards are the country’s only copyright-focused ceremony recognizing creators who contributed to the development of the music industry and generated the highest royalties over the previous year.
Grand prizes are given to lyricists and composers who received the most royalties in each category during the year.
BUMZU won both the pop lyrics and composition grand prizes for the third consecutive year, following wins in 2024 and 2025. He has worked on SEVENTEEN’s hit songs, including "Super," "THUNDER" and "VERY NICE."
“I sincerely thank you for this honorable award,” BUMZU said. “I will continue to repay the public with sincere music that offers comfort and joy.”
In the pop arrangement category, composer Hong Ji-sang won the grand prize for his work on songs such as "Time of Our Life," "HAPPY" and "You Were Beautiful" by DAY6.
Ahn Jung-hyun received the grand prize in the children’s song category, while Han Tae-soo was honored in the traditional Korean music category.
Composer Jung Poong-song, who created songs such as "Heogong" by Cho Yong-pil and "Brown Memories" by Han Hye-jin, was inducted into the KOMCA Hall of Fame, which honors veteran creators who have contributed to the development of Korea’s music industry.
The KOMCA Merit Award, given to individuals who have contributed to music culture and the association’s development, went to 12 recipients, including Kang Shin-wook, Kim Dong-chan, Kim Sang-gil, Kim Soo-hwan, Kim Jong-hwan, Park Woong, Seo Pan-seok, Song Kwang-ho, Shin Gui-bok, Shin Hyun-dae, Lee Saeng-gang and Lim Jong-soo.
