SEOUL, August 1 (Yonhap) -- “If I hear the name U-KISS or think about past memories, I feel so moved.”
Soohyun, from boy group U-KISS, talked about U-KISS during the media showcase for his new album “Count on me” on July 29.
Soohyun said, “Ups and downs of my life are all in my time as U-KISS.”
The new album “Count on Me” is Soohyeon's first solo mini album after 14 years of debut. The album has title song “The Soju Fairy,” including “Wake Up,” “My friend,” and “Marry Me.”
Soohyeon said, regarding the title song “The Soju Fairy,” “I compared falling in love with someone as gradually getting drunk while drinking soju.”
Song “My Friend” is a collaboration song with boy group TeenTop’s member Niel, who worked as idol same time as U-Kiss. Soohyun contacted Niel for collaboration.
Soohyeon said, “This is a song reminiscing memories with a friend. I worked with Niel while thinking about the time as idol.”
Soohyeon also said, “I made lots of efforts to put my previous musical experience in the album,” adding, “I will say I satisfy 95% as 100% is a bit impudent.”
U-KISS, who debuted as sextet boy group in 2018, gained popularity through the song “Am I That Easy?,” but they could not continue on due to frequent change of members. Controversy over the life of members who left the group were also issued.
Soohyun said “Lots of things happened when I was a member of U-KISS,” adding, “But I am not ashamed even if we were an eventful group.”
This new album is the first album to be released after he moved to current agency in last Jan., after contract with last agency ended in April 2021.
Soohyeon said “I realize how stressful you guys must be” to the fans who have been supporting U-KISS and him. He also thanked them saying, “I am thankful that you guys support U-KISS and me out of all those great idols.”
