SEOUL, Apr. 5 (Yonhap) – K-pop boy group BIGBANG’s “Still Life,” the group’s first release since a 4-year hiatus, topped the major music charts while ranking No. 1 on S. Korea’s top music streaming platform Melon’s “Top 100.”

According to the music scene on Apr. 5, this song contains a relaxed mood based on warm band sounds, which stands in contrast to the songs with intense hip-hop rhythm that the group has shown so far.

The introduction starts with a light guitar riff, and the emotional melodies touch the heart as the song goes on.

In this song, BIGBANG portrayed the cycle of world affairs that blooms and falls by comparing it to the seasons of life. The lyrics reflecting on life touched the hearts of many music fans.

The agency YG Entertainment said, "BIGBANG focused solely on the essence of music," adding, "We tried to communicate with music fans more in depth by presenting a digital single that contains sincerity of the members."

Although the song was released at midnight, which is contrary to most K-pop artists that release their music at 6 p.m., it still topped the music chart.

BIGBANG has faced consistent controversies, including the use of marijuana by members G-Dragon and T.O.P, and some people have seen their comeback in a negative light even ahead of the release of the new song. However, it is observed that the successful records of the new song will pave the way for the group’ future performances in the music scene.
