SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Yonhap) -- The members of K-pop project boy band Wanna One, who were scheduled to perform a reunion stage for the first time in three years, all tested negative for coronavirus.

All members of Wanna One, excluding Lai Kuan-lin, who could not attend the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), received negative results after taking a COVID-19 test late at night on Dec. 10, according to the music industry on Saturday.

Mnet, the music cable channel that hosts the annual event, then resumed to pre-record Wanna One's performance for three songs, including "Energetic," "Burn It Up," and "Beautiful," at a studio in Paju, some 30 kilometers northeast of Seoul. However, "Wanna One will not attend the red carpet for the 2021 MAMAs and the actual event," Mnet said.

Wanna One and all staff members halted rehearsals to conduct preemptive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests the previous day after one staff member who tested negative in a self COVID test turned out to test positive after taking the PCR test.

For this reason, fans who gathered to see Wanna One for the first time in three years had to wait for more than 12 hours in the cold weather until the members' negative results came out.

"We're very sorry for not being able to record at the scheduled time and keeping everyone waiting in the cold weather," Mnet said.
