'Korean Picasso' Jeon Hyuck Lim's Art Festival opens at his hometown Tongyeong until 24th

SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) -- The 7th Jeon Hyuck Lim Art Festival has begun at the artist’s hometown, Tongyeong City of South Gyeongsang Province Friday.


The festival will take place until the 24th at Jeon Hyuck Lim Museum of Art, named after him.

The art gallery opens fairs focused on exhibitions for award winners and young artists.

Kim Seung-young artist, the winner of the 6th Jeon Hyuck Lim Art Award (translated), will hold an exhibition from the 8th to the 17th.

Later, an exhibition for Lee Bo-hyun youth artist, the founder of Tongyeong Youth Artist Association, is scheduled from the 18th to the 24th.

The Jeon Hyuck Lim Art Festival is to commemorate Jeon Hyuck-lim artist also known as “Korean Picasso” (translated).

The artist searched for Korean style abstract painting using our tradition folk pictures and his hometown, Tongyeong’s sea colors as his major motives.

Celebrating the artist’s 100th birthday, the 1st fair for Jeon took place in 2015.
