SEOUL, May 6 (Yonhap) -- The zombie film "Colony," starring Jun Ji-hyun and directed by Yeon Sang-ho, has been pre-sold to 124 countries, including the United States, Japan, Taiwan and France, its distributor Showbox said Wednesday.
"Colony" tells the story of survivors fighting off the infected inside a building sealed off due to a mysterious virus outbreak. The film also features Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook and Shin Hyun-been.
Germany’s distributor FlyOn Pictures described the film as “by far the most entertaining experience” among Yeon’s works, adding that it delivers “pure enjoyment from its spectacular beginning to its ending.”
The film will make its premiere in the Midnight section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival later this month. The section is a non-competitive category showcasing genre films such as thrillers and horror.
"Colony" is set to open in South Korea on May 21, followed by releases in Taiwan, Malaysia, France and Singapore. It will premiere in North America on Aug. 28 and is scheduled for release in Japan next year.
