SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) -- Shinsegae International said Tuesday its skincare brand Yunjac has stepped up its push into the North American market by participating in the region's largest beauty trade show, launching products on Costco's U.S. online store and opening pop-up stores in the western United States.
Yunjac is participating in "Cosmoprof North America," the continent's largest business-to-business beauty exhibition, being held in Las Vegas through Tuesday, where it is showcasing its flagship products, including "Skin Perfecting Protective Base Prep," to secure local distribution partners and raise brand awareness.
Following the exhibition, the company plans to operate pop-up stores in major cities across the western United States for about three months. It also plans to officially launch the brand on Costco's U.S. online store later this month to expand its online and offline distribution channels.
According to Shinsegae International, multifunctional K-beauty base makeup products that combine the benefits of skincare and cosmetics have recently gained popularity in the U.S. market.
In line with the trend, Yunjac is promoting the concept of "prep" -- optimizing skin condition before makeup application -- as it seeks to establish a new base makeup category and gain an early foothold in the market.
The company plans to diversify Yunjac's overseas business beyond its traditional focus on China by expanding into Japan, the United States, Southeast Asia and Europe, while strengthening country-specific marketing strategies to broaden its global distribution network and increase market share.
"Having proven the quality of our products and the competitiveness of the Yunjac brand in China and Japan, we believe it has strong growth potential in the North American market as well," a Shinsegae International official said. "We will continue expanding our overseas business beyond China while reinforcing tailored marketing strategies for each market to enhance brand recognition and market share."
