SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean veteran actors Yu In-chon and Park Hae-soo will meet on the stage of an upcoming South Korean production of the tragic play “Faust,” written by the pre-eminent playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Yu In-chon, Park Hae-soo, Park Eun-seok, and Won Jin-ah will appear in the play “Faust,” which will be performed at LG Signature Hall in LG Art Center, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, from Mar. 31 to Apr. 29.

Yoo In-chon, who is known for previously starring in the play “Hamlet” as Hamlet’s uncle Claudius last year, will be on stage as Doctor Faustus this time.

Park Hae-soo, who rose to stardom for his role in Netflix sensations “Squid Game” and “Narco-Saints,” will appear as the demon Mephistopheles to whom Faustus sells his soul in return for worldly knowledge and pleasure.

The young Faustus will be played by Park Eun-seok, who made himself known by appearing in the hit drama series “The Penthouse: War in Life,” and Won Jin-ah, who starred in the film “Unspeakable Secret,” will be starring in her first play as Gretchen.

This masterpiece that the German literary master Goethe took over 60 years to complete will hold its first performance at the LG Art Center Seoul, which just opened last year.

The play will depict the story of a German necromancer or astrologer, who signs a troubling contract with the devil to exchange his soul with all the knowledge and power, and eventually comes to face an existential crisis.
