Busan to host New Years countdown event using 1500 drones

SEOUL December 28 (Yonhap) -- Over 1500 drones will showcase light show celebrating the coming of 2023, the year of rabbit at Gwangalli beach in Busan.

Suseong district located in Busan, addressed on Wednesday that they will be hosting a countdown event using over 1500 drones at the Gwangalli beach on December 31.

Upcoming event which will feature over 1500 will be the biggest drone event held in South Korea.

During the opening ceremony of Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang total of 1218 of the drones were used to perform the show.

The upcoming countdown show will kick off over 1500 drones visualizing a door which leads to 2023, and later on the door opens and the countdown will start. Once the countdown ends, when the midnight strikes, drones will visualize a black rabbit which symbolizes year 2023.

Starting at 11 p.m. South Korean artists Ali, Kim Dong-hyun, Lee Solomon and more will take to stage in front of the Suyeonggu Living Culture Center.
