SEOUL, July 8 (Yonhap) -- Actors Lee Byung-hun and Go Youn-jung have been cast in the upcoming martial arts action film tentatively titled "Nambeol," set during the Joseon Dynasty, production company Hive Media Corp. said Wednesday.
"Nambeol" follows nine warriors of different social classes and abilities who travel to Japan's Tsushima Island to rescue captives abducted by Japanese pirates.
Lee will play Im Eok, the leader of the warriors. A seasoned fighter who has survived countless battles, Im is known for his cool judgment and unwavering convictions.
Go will portray Aeryeong, a woman who lost her family in a pirate attack. She heads to Tsushima herself to rescue her younger sibling, who has been taken captive.
The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Lee Mo-gae, who is known for his work on films such as "12.12: The Day," "Exhuma" and "Hunt."
Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year.
