SEOUL, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- Most department stores will close for two days during this year's Chuseok holiday, either on the day before and the day of Chuseok or on Chuseok and the following day.

 

Major discount stores and outlet malls will have some stores closed on Chuseok, while stores that remain open will operate on reduced hours.

 

According to the retail industry on Monday, Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai department stores will each close for two days during the Chuseok holiday, with dates varying by store.

 

At Lotte Department Store, 29 stores, including the main branch and Jamsil branch, will close on Sept. 24, the day before Chuseok, and Sept. 25, Chuseok Day. The Centum City branch will close Sept. 25-26.

 

At Shinsegae Department Store, 11 stores, including the Gangnam, Times Square, South City and Centum City branches, will close Sept. 24-25. The main branch will close Sept. 25-26, while the Hanam branch will close only on Sept. 25.

 

At Hyundai Department Store, 11 stores, including the Trade Center, Cheonho, Mia, Mokdong, Jungdong, Kintex, Pangyo, Ulsan, Chungcheong, The Hyundai Seoul and The Hyundai Daegu branches, will close Sept. 24-25.

 

The Apgujeong main branch and Sinchon branch will close Sept. 25-26.

 

Meanwhile, major discount stores will operate normally except on Chuseok Day. On the holiday itself, some stores will be closed while others will operate on shortened hours, so customers should check individual store schedules.

 

E-Mart will operate 87 stores from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Chuseok Day, while 45 stores, including the Yangjae and Cheonggyecheon branches in Seoul, will be closed.

 

About 30 of Lotte Mart's 112 stores will be closed on Chuseok Day.

 

Stores that remain open will shorten their hours from the usual 10 a.m.-11 p.m. to 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

 

Some outlet malls will also close on Chuseok Day.

 

All 21 Lotte Outlet stores and the Fitin Sanbon store will be closed on Sept. 25, Chuseok Day, and operate normally during the rest of the holiday.

 

Hyundai Outlet stores will also close on Sept. 25.

 

Shinsegae Simon outlets will delay opening on Chuseok Day from 10 a.m. to noon and operate normally during the rest of the holiday. However, individual brands may have different operating schedules on Chuseok Day.

 

Five Lotte Mall locations, including Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Time Villas Suwon, and Lotte Mall Gimpo Airport, Eunpyeong and Suji, will operate on shortened hours from noon to 10 p.m. on Chuseok Day and operate normally during the rest of the holiday.
