SEOUL, Aug. 9 (Yonhap) -- "Ghost, (tentative title)," a supernatural thriller directed by Yeon Sang-ho, will be released next year, according to online video service, Tving, on Monday.

The upcoming thriller follows the story of people who are blinded by a strange paranormal curse and archaeologists who try to get to the bottom of the bizzare mystery. Along with the discovery of mysterious curse, the intense process of tracking down the cause behind the chaos will be shown as well.

Above all, the drama is expected to expand director Yeon's worldview. Director Yeon, who showed unlimited imagination from the Korean zombie movies "Seoul Station," "Train to Busan," and "Peninsula," to the acclaimed tvN drama "The Cursed," with shamanism, is drawing attention from the viewers to see what story Yeon will tell this time.

Writer Ryu Yong-jae, who wrote screenplays for drama "Pied Piper" and "My Holo Love," will also participate in the upcoming drama as well as film director Jang Kun-jae, who swept the 16th Busan Film Critics Awards for best screenplay for the film "A Midsummer's Fantasia."

The leading roles will be played by actor Koo Kyo-hwan and actress Shin Hyun-bin.

Koo Kyo-hwan will play Jung Ki-hoon, an eccentric archaeologist who studies the supernatural phenomenon. Koo, who plays Lee Soo-jin (Shin Hyun-bin)'s ex-husband, will portray how his character's life changes due to the unexpected incident.

Shin Hyun-bin plays Lee Soo-jin, a genius code-breaker, who faces a terrible disaster. Lee Soo-jin loses her only daughter and goes back to Jinyang County, where she starts to experience strange events.

In addition, Kim Ji-young, Park Ho-san, Kwak Dong-yeon and Nam Da-reum will also appear in the thriller.
