SEOUL, Oct. 7 (Yonhap) -- Two food festivals representing Wonju's dumplings and Daegu's tteokbokki will team up to promote each other and encourage tourists to visit both cities, organizers said Wednesday.

The Wonju Cultural Foundation said the "2026 Wonju Dumpling Festival" and the "Daegu Tteokbokki Festival" will cooperate as the two events take place during the same period.

The festivals will introduce each other through their official social media accounts and online promotional channels while proposing festival trips connecting the two cities.

Visitors who attend both festivals and verify their visits will receive commemorative goods prepared by each festival.

The 2026 Wonju Dumpling Festival will take place from Oct. 23-25 around Wonju Stream and the traditional market area in Jungang-dong under the theme "A Panful of Fun at the Market!"

The Daegu Tteokbokki Festival, also held during the same period, will offer a variety of food, attractions and entertainment centered on tteokbokki, or spicy rice cakes.

The collaboration was organized to attract tourists from each city and expand tourism between the regions through exchanges between representative local food festivals.

"We will continue exchanges using representative local content so that visitors can enjoy a unique festival trip combining the two events," Park Chang-ho, president of the Wonju Cultural Foundation, said.
