SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- Since the opening of Cheong Wa Dae on the 10th of last month, the number of visitors to Cheong Wa Dae has increased by more than 270,000, and the reservation method has been unified.
The Blue House Public Relations Promotion Team of the Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 2nd that it would expand the number of visitors by 10,000, with previously allowing 39,000 and increasing it to 49,000 from the 12th.
The reservations for visiting Cheong Wa Dae after the 12th can be made at the website for the opening of Cheong Wa Dae (www.청와대개방.kr) from 10 a.m. on the 3rd. Previously, reservations were possible through Naver, KakaoTalk, and Toss applications.
The method of selecting visitors has also changed from lottery to first-come first-serve basis, and the number of people one person can make for reservations has increased from 4 to 6 people as well.
As with the Gyeongbokgung Palace on the south of Cheong Wa Dae, the Bugaksan hiking trail along Cheong Wa Dae, the Chilgung and the Cheong Wa Dae itself will be closed on Tuesdays.
Visiting hours have changed from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. to 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. With an interval of 1 hour and 30 minutes, 8,000 online applicants will be entering six times each.
For seniors of 65 years or older, the disabled, foreigners who have difficulty making reservations online, one can buy tickets at the Yeongbinmun Information Desk at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The number of tickets that can be bought offline are limited to 500 people for each session.
The entrance to the Bugaksan hiking trail linked with Cheong Wa Dae will be moved to the Chunchugwan from the area near Korea Banking Institute on the 2nd.
By 31st of May, the number of applicants to visit Cheong Wa Dae exceeded 6.59 million, and the number of visitors has reached 574,000. From the 10th to the 31st of last month, the number of hikers on Bugaksan Mountain recorded 94,000, seven time more compared to the same period of last year.
