SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- Choi Yoo-hyun, holder of the national intangible cultural heritage designation for embroidery, has donated 929 lots totaling 1,063 embroidery works and related materials to the museum of the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage.

 

The university said Monday that it held a donation ceremony at the National Palace Museum of Korea in Seoul on Aug. 26 and will host an exhibition of the donated items at Gyejodang Hall in Gyeongbok Palace through Sept. 6.

The donation includes embroidery works such as Choi's representative piece, "Gwaneum Samjon-do," as well as materials she collected and preserved throughout her life. The items offer a look at Choi's more than 80 years of embroidery work and her artistic world as a master artisan.

 

The exhibition presents Choi's works and materials, highlighting her efforts to preserve traditional embroidery techniques while exploring new forms of expression.

 

The university plans to systematically preserve and manage the donated items and use them for research, education, exhibitions and the transmission of traditional embroidery.
