SEOUL, Mar. 3 (Yonhap) -- More than 100 people, including prominent singers and actors such as mega-hit girl group ITZY, have participated in the promotion video that has been produced to support Busan for hosting the 2030 World Expo.

The Busan Metropolitan Government is set to drop a video titled “2030 World Expo Hosting Celeb: 100” every Friday from Friday to Apr. 21, by which more than 100 singers, actors, and athletes will share words of support for the city to be named the venue to hold the 2030 World Expo.

Each video that will be shared on the official Instagram and Facebook accounts as well as Naver blogs, KakaoTalk channels, and YouTube will feature four to five celebrities cheering for the upcoming event.

The very first video, which will be released today, will feature girl groups Viviz and CLASSY, actress Lee So-yeon and actor Lim Ho, and dance sports player Park Ji-woo.

To produce and share these videos, the Busan Metropolitan Government has been conveying the importance and implication of the 2030 World Expo since last June, and has since been scheduling these collaborations with these influential artists and athletes.

The main objective of these videos is to raise public awareness and pique the interest in the 2030 World Expo ahead of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE)’s visit to Korea from Apr. 2 to 7.

Especially, videos featuring K-pop bands such as ITZY and director Yoon Je-kyun will also be edited into short videos (shorts) of less than a minute to be released on YouTube.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon of the city of Busan said, “We would like to give thanks to the agencies including JYP Entertainment and IOK Company, for cooperation. We would also like to thank the significant figures in our national entertainment industry, including singers Lee Sun-hee and Insooni, as well,” adding, “We expect the videos to be a catalyst for attracting more attention to the 2030 World Expo.”
