SEOUL, April 12 (Yonhap) -- Korean Film Archive announces that they will hold Korean Film Museum's new exhibition, 'Great Expectations: Taehung Pictures 1984~2004', starting from the 14th.


The exhibition is held to honor the memory of Lee Tae-won, the former representative of Taehung Production, who deceased last October, and commemorate the contribution of Taehung Pictures to Korean film industry.

Taehung Production created 36 movies from 1984 to 2004. "The General's Son(1990)" and "Sopyonje(1993)", both directed by director Im Kwon-taek broke box office record of Korean film, and "ChunHyang(2000)" and "Chihwaseon(2002)" paved the way of the globalization of Korean film.

On this exhibition, 85 out of 2,000 film pieces which Taehung Production donated to Korean Film Archive, will be disclosed.

Including the films of director Im Kwon-taek, which account for 11 out of 36 pieces of Taehung Production, visitors can see a digitally restored film "Bhiksuni(1984)", the founding film of Taehung Production in which its production was cancelled due to the confilct with Buddhism, and a trophy for the best director award won at Cannes International Film Festival with the film "Chihwaseon."

At the opening ceremoney which is to be held on the 14th, members of the movie industry who worked with Taehung Production, including composer Kim Soo-chul, director Bae Chang-ho, and Lee Myung-se, wil participate.

The exhibition is free of charge and it is held until the 25th of September.
