SEOUL, May 19 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actor Kim Min-jong on Monday denied allegations raised by rapper MC Mong that he was involved in an illegal gambling circle, calling the claims “groundless.”

 

Through his legal representative, law firm Oh Kims, Kim said, “I would like to clearly state that the claims currently being circulated about me are not true.”

 

He added, “After thoroughly verifying and organizing the facts regarding the matter, we plan to pursue civil and criminal legal responsibility where necessary,” adding that he would act carefully so as not to disappoint those who have trusted and supported him for a long time.

 

During a livestream on Sunday, MC Mong claimed that there is an illegal gambling group involving entertainers and alleged that Kim Min-jong was one of its members.

Kim’s legal representative said, “Baseless rumors about Kim Min-jong’s private life and malicious suspicions are spreading indiscriminately,” adding that the artist’s reputation has been seriously damaged despite the public’s long-standing support.

 

The representative also stressed that all allegations involving Kim are “clearly false” and said the singer-actor would “face the matter head-on without any compromise” to prove his innocence.
