SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- Stray Kids won four trophies, including Album of the Year in the Asia category, at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards, organizers said Thursday.
According to the organizers, the group received the Asia category’s Album of the Year and Artist of the Year awards, as well as Music Video of the Year and Best 3 Albums, marking the most awards won by a foreign act at this year’s ceremony.
The awards are presented across three categories: Japanese music, Asia and Western music.
Several K-pop artists also made the winners list this year.
Jennie of Blackpink won Song of the Year by Download in the Western music category with her solo album’s title track "like JENNIE."
The original soundtrack "Golden" from the KPop Demon Hunters, a Netflix animated film, won two prizes in the Asia category — Song of the Year by Download and Song of the Year by Streaming.
In addition, KATSEYE, a Korea-U.S. joint girl group under Hybe, received New Artist of the Year and Best 2 New Artists in the Western music category.
TWS was named New Artist of the Year in the Asia category and also made the Best 3 New Artists list along with ILLIT and PLAVE.
Hybe’s Japan-based group &TEAM won Best 5 Albums and Best 5 Singles in the Japanese music category.
Seventeen’s "HAPPY BURSTDAY" and Tomorrow X Together’s "Starkissed" were selected among the Best 3 Albums in the Asia category, alongside Stray Kids’ "Hollow."
