SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Yonhap) -- Convenience store chain CU said Thursday it will expand its color cosmetics lineup by launching a mini lip gloss targeting the "Zalpha" generation -- a combined term for Generation Z and Generation Alpha.
The new product, launched exclusively at CU, is the Bubble Gloss Mini collection from vegan makeup brand FEEV. The four-item lineup features miniature versions of the brand's popular Bubble Gloss products equipped with keyrings.
Reflecting the growing "bag decoration" trend, the products can be attached to bags, pouches and other accessories for easy carrying.
CU's color cosmetics sales rose 212.1 percent in the January-July period from a year earlier.
The growth was even stronger at the chain's approximately 600 beauty-focused stores nationwide, where color cosmetics sales jumped 301.5 percent over the same period.
Hong Jin-hee, a beauty merchandise planner at BGF Retail, said consumer trends in the beauty market increasingly emphasize not only product functionality but also portability and collectible appeal.
"We will continue introducing differentiated beauty products that quickly reflect the latest trends to provide customers with new shopping experiences," Hong said.
