SEOUL, May 18 (Yonhap) -- The Humboldt Forum, Germany which presented "Reflection on the History of Colonialism" is selecting a curator who will be in charge of the Korean exhibition, a part of the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art.

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which takes care of the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art, announced that it will openly hire a curator who will be in charge of the Korean exhibition space until the 14th of next month.

Currently, the period of employment is said to be three years.

Applicants are required to be experts in the field of Korean art and art history (with a master's degree or higher) and be fluent in both English and Korean. Applications can be submitted to the email (bewerbungsmanagement@hv.spk-berlin.de) with the required documents (https://www.preussischer-kulturbesitz.de/stellenanzeige/artikel/2022/05/17/wissenschaftliche-r-mitarbeiterin-mitarbeiter-fuer-die-korea-sammlungen-m-w-d.html).

The curator in charge of the Korean exhibition space has set a goal to make the most of the Korean artifacts held by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation to increase visibility and quality both inside and outside Germany, and to strengthen the participation of artists with a special connection to Korea or Korean culture in the region so that a wide and diverse audience will participate.

The foundation announced that through exhibitions and events, Korea's special and diverse arts and culture would be able to reach a wider audience. Along with that, it said that it would strengthen the mutual cooperation and networks while also enabling broader participation.

Previously, the Korean Cultural Center in Germany (Koreanisches Kulturzentrum) signed a support agreement to strengthen research, investigations and exhibitions of the Korean exhibition hall in December last year.

As per this agreement, the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art decided to hire a curator in charge of the Korean exhibition space while also conducting workshops and seminars.

Additionally, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to support the recruitment of Korean curators on top of expanding the exhibitions in the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art to strengthen mutual cooperation for the next three years.

The Humboldt Forum, under the banner of "Reflection on the History of Colonialism," opened the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art on September 23rd 2021, and includes exhibition spaces from Korea, China, and Japan. The area of the Korean exhibition space in the Humboldt Forum Berlin Museum of Asian Art is 60 square meters, which is only one-tenth the size of the Japanese and Chinese pavilions.

Of the 180 Korean relics owned by the Humboldt Forum, only 14 are on display with explanations, including one celadon kettle and 6 bowls and plates from the Goryeo Dynasty, and a pair of bronze statuettes from the Joseon Dynasty. The rest of the relics are displayed behind the glass under the name "owned by research institute."
