SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) -- A global project celebrating the comeback of K-pop supergroup BTS has expanded into a large-scale festival spanning major cities including Seoul, New York and London, the group’s agency BigHit Music said Thursday.
BTS on Wednesday released a compilation video, “BTS The City Arirang,” via its official YouTube channel. The project marks the release of the group’s new album “Arirang” and transforms major cities around the world into immersive media spaces.
The video features landmarks such as the South Bank in London and the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.
In London, the London Eye was illuminated in red on March 21 (local time), while nearby buildings displayed media facades featuring the members holding traditional lanterns alongside the album’s logo.
In New York, a drone show took place on March 18 against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, forming phrases such as “ARIRANG,” “BTS” and the number “7,” symbolizing the group’s seven members.
A series of events also took place in Seoul. At Shinsegae Square, 3D visual content was showcased, while a media facade projected silhouettes of the members onto the walls of Sungnyemun Gate. The event was held on March 20, the group’s comeback day, and has been შეფასated as an example of combining cultural heritage with modern technology, the agency said.
The album logo was displayed on N Seoul Tower, while drone shows depicting the seven members’ faces were presented at Ttukseom Hangang Park. Busking performances and interactive programs were also held at Yeouido Hangang Park.
Further programs, including “ARMY Yard” at Dongdaemun Design Plaza and “Love Quarter” at Cheonggyecheon, will be rolled out sequentially in Seoul.
