SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- 

Actor Lee Jun-hyuk will take on the role of a priest in his next project.

 

SBS announced on Wednesday that Lee will star in its upcoming drama "Awakening," scheduled to air next year.

 

"Awakening" is an occult exorcism drama set at Holy Spirit High School, which has become a playground for evil spirits due to its obsession with academic achievement. The story follows an exorcist priest who risks his soul to save the students.

 

The series marks Lee’s first foray into the occult genre.

 

In the drama, Lee plays Antonio, a newly appointed head priest at the school. In reality, Antonio is an exorcist ordained by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and is dispatched to the school to investigate demonic activity.

 

As he encounters a series of mysterious incidents, Antonio pursues the entity responsible for dragging students toward death.
