SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- Violinist Park Sueye’s album ”Journey Through a Century” has been picked as the “Recordings of the Year” in the special digital edition of the UK classic music magazine “Gramophone," according to her agency MOC Production on Friday.
Gramophone’s “Recording of the Month,” “Editor’s Choices,” and winners of Gramophone’s classic music awards in the recording section were all named on the list of the “Recordings of the Year.”
“Journey Through a Century” is Park's third album, which is filled with Max Reger’s prelude and violin solos of 20th century composers like Fugue and Krzysztof Penderecki’s Capriccio.
Born in Daegu, the 21-year-old violinist started playing the violin at the age of 4 and moved to Germany at the age of 9. After being accepted into Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, she has been taught by Swedish violinist Ulf Wallin. Along with the teacher's recommendation not to be obsessed with competitions, Park decided to concentrate on performances and recording activities and was eventually recognized for her talent.
Park is planning to release the accompanied performance with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, which was previously conducted by Osmo Vänskä in August, as an album next year. She also plans to perform a recital in Korea next year.
