SEOUL, April 6 (Yonhap) -- Three audience members were injured after a safety fence collapsed during a Super Junior concert in Seoul, the group’s agency said Sunday.
According to SM Entertainment, the accident occurred Sunday at KSPO Dome in Songpa district during the group’s 20th anniversary world tour concert "Super Show 10."
The incident took place during the encore stage when member Ryeowook approached the audience to interact with fans. As spectators reached out and moved closer, the safety fence gave way, causing three people to fall and sustain injuries.
The injured were immediately taken to a hospital for examination and treatment, the agency said, adding that medical staff advised about two weeks of rest and care for sprains and bruises.
“We sincerely apologize to those who were injured and their families,” SM Entertainment said in a statement.
The agency added it will fully support the victims’ treatment and recovery, while taking responsibility for the incident.
“As the concert organizer, we deeply acknowledge our responsibility and will strengthen safety inspections and crowd management measures to prevent similar incidents in the future,” it said.
