'The Fiery Priest' Season 2 returns with Kim Nam-gil, Lee Honey as lead cast

SEOUL, April 24 (Yonhap) -- The popular SBS drama 'The Fiery Priest' will return for its second season in the latter half of this year.

SBS announced on the 24th that actors Kim Nam-gil, Lee Honey, Kim Sung-kyun, and Kim Hyung-seo (Bibi) will star in the drama 'The Fiery Priest 2'.

The drama depicts the story of fiery priest Kim Hae-il, who, driven by a passionate sense of justice and a fiery temperament, heads to Busan to chase down a drug case.

Kim Nam-gil will reprise his role as the protagonist Kim Hae-il from Season 1, showcasing his knack for comedic acting and dynamic action scenes.

Lee Honey and Kim Sung-kyun will also return, and singer and actor Kim Hyung-seo will join as the new character, Detective Gu Ja-young of the passionate drug team in Busan.

The drama 'The Fiery Priest', which aired in 2019, garnered significant popularity by blending social satire, comedy, and action, culminating with a peak viewership rating of 22.0%.

Director Park Bo-ram and writer Park Jae-beom, who worked on Season 1, have once again joined forces for Season 2. The production team stated, "Season 2 will bring an upgraded mix of laughter, action, and crime narrative."

This news has drawn much anticipation from viewers looking forward to the return of 'The Fiery Priest' with its beloved characters and new thrilling storylines.
