SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) –- Girl group Nature made a comeback to the music industry with its new song “RICA RICA,” after a year and 6 months.
The group debuted in 2018 with a pure and refreshing concept, “Allegro Cantabile,” and gained popularity after releasing an uptempo song “I’m So Pretty,” and “Girls,” with a mature charm.
However, due to the prolonged COVID-19 crisis, with the music industry also suffering a recession, Nature failed to release a new album for a year and a half from June 2020 and went through a long break.
Nature, who recently met with Yonhap News Agency at a practice studio in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, said, "Our mindset has grown."
Ahead of their comeback, the group drew attention after releasing a fake documentary on YouTube. The four-part documentary was named as an acrostic poem after the group, and their longing for success can be observed through the title, "NATURE can't go down like this."
The documentary depicts the process of making a new song "RICA RICA," by visiting a fortune teller and being recommended by a composer, practicing a unique "footwork choreography" derived from the traditional African dance. The members in the documentary actively participate in the album production by dividing songs, costumes, and choreography in groups of two or three.
Lu explained, “We practiced the traditional African dance for over a month,” adding, “At first, I was worried about whether I could do well because the choreography was difficult, but now I think I only have to show it off on stage.”
The album also includes a fan song "Dear Leaf," for fans who have been waiting for the past year and six months.
Sohee explained, "I'm so grateful for the fans' hearts who have always waited for us whether it rains or snows, so it's a song that holds our hearts with pretty lyrics," adding, "We think of LEAFs (Nature fans), but it can also be said to be a song dedicated to family or lovers."
