SEOUL, Mar. 14 (Yonhap) – The SBS’ Friday and Saturday drama “Through the Darkness,” which depicts the story of the profiler fiercely looking into the hearts of serial killers, has come to an end.

The final episode of “Through the Darkness,” which was aired on Mar. 12 at 10 p.m., recorded viewer rating of 7 percent, according to a rating research company Nielsen Korea on Monday.

The drama, which is based on the true story of South Korea’s first profiler Kwon Il-yong, an adjunct professor at Dongguk University, portrays serial killers who commit crimes only for the purpose of murder without any other motivation.

It has received favorable reviews from genre drama enthusiasts as it calmly depicts the dramatic events and features marvelous performances of actors Kim Nam-gil and Jin Seon-kyu, who played the profilers, as well as those of supporting actors.

“Through the Darkness” displayed a development of the story that focused on psychological operations between profilers and criminals rather than the case itself, and it also pointed out the reality of incompetent police and provocative media in the early 2000s.
