SEOUL, Apr. 28 (Yonhap) -- "Rascal," a famous nursery rhyme written by Kim Chang-wan of the band Sanullim was published as a picture book to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Children's Day.
According to Book Bank on the 28th, this book was written by Kim Chang-wan and was illustrated by Lee Jeong-yeon, a painter who has been a longtime fan of Kim Chang-wan.
"Racal," the title song of the first nursery rhyme album released by Sanullim in 1979 is still a popular song that has been widely sung for more than 40 years. The cover for the picture book will be the image of the album cover that Kim Chang-wan drew at the time of the album release.
"Today, more and more children are playing video games and mobile phones rather than balls or rubber bands. Especially with COVID-19 that started in 2020, even the school grounds have been taken away from the children," said Book Bank.
"I hope that this picture book will allow our children, who had to be stuck in their rooms after the outbreak of COVID-19 to regain the joy of playing outside," Book Bank continued. "It will be a meaningful gift for those who were children in the 1980s and 1990s that sang 'Let's Play Together' along the alleys of the neighborhood as the meaningful song will be reborn as a picture book."
In the picture book, a postcard made from the original picture of the album cover of "Rascal" is also included.
