SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actress Go Hyun-jung is set to transform into a star producer nurturing idols in the new Genie TV drama 'Namib.'
On the 8th, Genie TV announced the cast for 'Namib,' which will air in the second half of this year. The drama tells the story of star producer Kang Soo-hyun, who is fired from her company, and Yoo Jin-woo, a long-time trainee who is also released from the company, as they embark on a project to create a star.
Go Hyun-jung will play Kang Soo-hyun, a producer who nurtures idols with her unique philosophy and intuition. After being expelled from her position as co-CEO of Pandora Entertainment for undisclosed reasons, she struggles to support her disabled son.
Ryeoun will portray Yoo Jin-woo, a long-term trainee at Kang Soo-hyun's company. On the verge of giving up on his dream, he decides to undergo training again under Kang Soo-hyun's promise to make him a star.
Yoon Sang-hyun has been cast as Shim Joon-seok, Kang Soo-hyun's husband, and Lee Jin-woo will play their only son, Shim Jin-woo, who has a hearing impairment.
Director Han Sang-jae, known for 'House with a Yard' and 'The Kidnapping Day,' will helm the project.
Genie TV introduced the drama by saying, "The process of a producer with an empty heart like a desert and a trainee in an unstable position like the sea coming together as mentor and mentee and striving towards a common goal will offer deep comfort to viewers."
