SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) -- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Wednesday that it will appoint singer-actress Jun Hyo-seong as the "2021 Hanbok Promotional Ambassador" with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation.
Jun Hyo-seong will participate in promotional events for hanbok, which is Korea's traditional clothing, and promote hanbok culture by utilizing social media.
Jun Hyo-seong, who is known to have a special affection for hanbok, appeared in a New York Times Square commercial on March 3 to promote the beauty of hanbok and received a "2021 Spring Hanbok Love Award" from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Craft & Design Foundation have appointed several celebrities as ambassadors for hanbok since 2014 to promote hanbok culture in Korea and abroad. Last year, actress Kwon Na-ra was selected as ambassador.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee, said, "We hope Jun Hyo-seong's activities will spread the perception that hanbok is not only worn on special days, but can always be worn in our everyday life."
