SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- BIGBANG will release a new digital single, "BiiiG," at 6 p.m. Friday, the group's 20th debut anniversary, YG Entertainment said.
"BiiiG" is a high-energy hip-hop track featuring grand beats and an addictive hook. Member G-Dragon participated in writing and composing the song, infusing it with the group's distinctive musical color.
YG described the song as one that "showcases BIGBANG's unique synergy, with G-Dragon's sharp rapping, Taeyang's groovy vocals and Daesung's powerful voice coming together."
It marks BIGBANG's first group release in four years and four months since "Still Life" in April 2022. The members have directly overseen the entire project, from music production to visual direction and marketing plans.
To celebrate their 20th anniversary, BIGBANG is holding various events around Seoul's Jamsil area, including a media exhibition, photo zones, a merchandise shop and lighting installations at Seokchon Lake.
The group will kick off its new world tour, "XX: COSMOS," at Goyang Stadium from Aug. 21-23. It will then perform 33 concerts at major venues in 19 cities across North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
BIGBANG debuted in August 2006 and went on to become one of the leading second-generation K-pop groups, releasing numerous hits including "Lies," "Last Farewell," "Haru Haru," "FANTASTIC BABY" and "BANG BANG BANG."
The members also showcased their musical abilities by taking part in songwriting and production, while their flamboyant fashion drew widespread attention.
YG also posted a commemorative video on its official social media accounts Friday looking back on BIGBANG's 20-year journey since its 2006 debut song "La La La."
