SEOUL, Mar. 3 (Yonhap) -- Olive trees run down the stretch of roads, and four men make memories in the nature of Spain, such as deserts, seas, and lakes that have never been seen before.
Actors Cho Jin-woong, Choi Won-young, Park Myung-hoon, and Kwon Yul, who left for Spain with a backpack, have attended the production presentation of tvN's variety show "Europe Outside Your Tent" held at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-gu, Seoul on Thursday.
In season 1, Yoo Hae-jin, Jin Sun-kyu, Park Ji-hwan, and Yoon Kyun-sang went to Switzerland and Italian camping sites, and this season, new members visit every corner of Spain as much as they can for 10 days.
The four "camping beginners" agreed that it was difficult to set up a tent itself, but they suffered a lot due to unusual weather conditions. The highlight video showed the tent, which was hard hit by heavy snow, starting to collapse and shaking dangerously in strong gusts.
Choi Won-young said with a smile, "I'm the only member who has camping experience," adding, "However my experience in front of Mother Nature in Spain was so weak that it made me humble."
"The production team said the weather was good after the the on-site survey, but the weather changed rapidly in two weeks," Cho Jin-woong said. "As I experienced that the abnormal climate is serious, I also thought about lifestyle for the environment."
There was also a division of roles among the members. Cho Jin-woong was mainly driving, Choi Won-young was in charge of cooking, and the youngest Kwon Yul was in charge of managing travel expenses as a general secretary. Park Myung-hoon said he played the role of being clumsy.
Cho Jin-woong pointed to the general secretary Kwon Yul and said, "I was forced to live a hard-pressed life due to continuous belt-tightening," and made people burst into laughter.
Producer Kang Gung, who was in charge of directing, stressed that the program is different in that it travels in nature, not in tourist attractions or restaurants that travel entertainment programs usually shows. “Europe Outside Your Tent” uses camping sites instead of hotels, rental cars instead of trains, and local marts instead of restaurants.
"Spain was introduced a lot through various programs, but it was mostly about the representative cities like Barcelona and Madrid," Producer Kang said. "We drove along the mountain range and went to unfamiliar places such as deserts and pink lakes."
"When we return from the trip, we remember the moments such as when we couldn't enter the tourist destination because we didn't make a reservation and the famous restaurant we searched failed," he said. "We differentiated our program by focusing on memories rather than going to tourist destinations or restaurants."
