SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group Babymonster will release its digital single "DESERVE" at 1 p.m. Friday, its agency, YG Entertainment, said.
"DESERVE" is a pop ballad showcasing the members' delicate vocals and mature expressiveness.
The song combines lyrical synthesizer melodies, a retro atmosphere and lyrics wishing happiness for a former lover while looking back on past memories.
In particular, the song highlights the members' vocal abilities as the emotional intensity builds toward the chorus.
"Known for their performance prowess, Babymonster is making a bold move by relying solely on their voices," YG said. "They will demonstrate their expanded musical spectrum, going beyond hip-hop and dance to include pop ballads."
Through their agency, Babymonster said, "'DESERVE' is a song in a style we have never shown before. You'll be able to see a more mature side of us than before. We practiced by focusing on the flow of emotions rather than the highs and lows of the notes. It's a song that suits autumn well, so we hope you'll listen to it comfortably whenever you need a change of mood."
Babymonster will perform the new song live on MBC's "Show! Music Core" on Saturday and SBS' "Inkigayo" on Sunday.
