SEOUL, May 29 (Yonhap) -- KBS has suspended actor Oh Young-soo, who was convicted in the first trial for forced indecent acts, and is set to review the case of singer Kim Ho-joong, who has been detained on charges of hit-and-run while under the influence of alcohol.
A KBS representative stated on the 28th, "The Broadcast Appearance Regulation Review Committee decided on the 13th of this month to escalate the restriction on Oh Young-soo from 'recommendation to refrain from appearances' to 'suspension of appearances.'"
Oh Young-soo, known for his role in the Netflix original series "Squid Game," was indicted without detention in 2022 for allegedly forcibly molesting a woman (referred to as A) while staying in a provincial area for a theater performance in 2017. Despite his denial of the charges, he was found guilty in the first trial and sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, and has since appealed the decision.
The KBS representative also mentioned, "The Broadcast Appearance Regulation Review Committee will meet on the 29th to review Kim Ho-joong's case." Kim Ho-joong was involved in a hit-and-run incident on the 9th in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where he collided with a taxi in the opposite lane and fled the scene. He later admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol. The police detained Kim Ho-joong on the 24th.
