SEOUL, July 31 (Yonhap) -- Actress Kim Min-ha, best known for her role in Apple TV+'s "Pachinko," will host the opening ceremony of this year's Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), organizers said Friday.
The festival's organizing committee said Kim will serve as the sole host of the opening ceremony for the 31st BIFF, which is scheduled for Oct. 6.
Kim, who debuted in 2016, rose to international prominence for her portrayal of the young Sunja in "Pachinko" (2022, 2024), earning praise for depicting the resilient character navigating the turbulence of history.
Her performance won her the Best New Talent award in the television category at the 2022 Asian American Awards.
She has since expanded her acting career across television and film, appearing in the dramas "Light Shop" (2024), "Way Back Love" (2025) and "Typhoon Company" (2025), as well as the recently released film "Hana Korea" (2026).
"Kim Min-ha has captivated audiences through a wide range of performances that showcase both sincerity and confidence," the BIFF organizing committee said. "We expect her poised hosting to further enhance the prestige of the festival."
This year's Busan International Film Festival will run for 10 days from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and nearby venues.
