SEOUL October 24 (Yonhap) -- “When I was young I could not accept my flaws, I was in pursuit of perfectionism. However I have learned to give up and let go of certain things.”
“I never knew how chasing after perfection would do to my health, I was reckless and worked without knowing what I was doing to my body when I was young, however I have learned to know and accept my limit and stop at my limit.” South Korean singer Jo Yuri addressed during the press conference held for her latest single on Monday.
The reason artist described her ability to let go of things is because the theme of her latest single is about lending one a hand, and offering help to those in need of help.
Second single “Op. 22 Y Waltz : In Minor” is an album with a heartwarming message of how everyone are lovely and loved by someone. It also withholds a meaning of loving oneself before loving someone else.
Total of three tracks are included within her single album, starting with the title track “Loveable.” Followed by “Blank” which describes an empty space where one can be true to themselves and be free, and “Favorite Part” which the artist showcases her matured and very settled vocal.
Title track “Loveable” withholds bright and cheerful message with her unique tone.
According to the artist these hopeful and heartwarming keywords came to the artist while talking to her friend from her hometown, Busan.
“’People with flaws are rather lovely’ said my friend, and once I heard her say that I felt relieved and touched” adding “I wanted to send positive and comforting message to others as well.” artist Jo Yuri described her intention of creating her single album.
Continuing on, the artist stated “This album is about accepting my flaws and learning to love myself for who I am.” adding “’listening to the lyrics where I state ‘it is ok even if you are clumsy’ it touches my heart.”
Jo Yuri who debuted through South Korean broadcasting provider Mnet’s audition survival program “Produce 48” in 2018 later on started her career as a member of girl group IZ*ONE has unique husky tone of voice.
“Since I had irreplaceable voice I was loved so much,” adding “Back when I was young I had limited tracks which I could perform, however I have learned much more, therefore now I am capable of performing various songs from wider selection. And I have become more calm.” artist chuckled throughout her interview.
Moreover, artist addressed “Since I switched from being part of a girl group to a solo artist, sometimes when I eat by myself or sleep, I feel bit lonely because I’m by myself. adding “however I have learned to adapt to the situation, and I would like to say to myself that I am doing pretty well.
Jo Yuri has successfully debuted as an actress through South Korean web drama “Mimicus” which premiered during the summer of 2022. Luckily, she acted out the center member of the girl group throughout the drama which is a perfect fit for Jo Yuri, given her experience as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE.
“I would like to be recognized as a reliable singer who people can always count on.” adding “want to acquire the title of reliable actress as well.” announced Jo Yuri during the press conference.
