SEOUL, Apr. 9 (Yonhap) – S. Korean singer and actress Son Na-eun, who performed as a member of K-pop girl group Apink for the past 11 years, has announced her departure from the group.

The agency IST Entertainment announced on Friday, “Apink will continue its group activities by reorganizing the team into 5 members, including Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jung Eun-ji, Kim Nam-joo, and Oh Ha-young, starting with the release of the 11th debut anniversary album on Apr. 19.”

Son decided to wrap up her group performances.

Son, unlike 5 other members, finished her contract with IST Entertainment and moved to YG Entertainment last year. As the members' agencies were divided, their schedules were not easily coordinated, making Apink perform as a 5-member group for the 10th debut anniversary special album this year.

IST Entertainment explained, "All 6 members and the two agencies met in person to share their opinions on the overall group activities," adding, "We came to the conclusion after much deliberation.”

Son said in a handwritten letter she uploaded on her Instagram, “Apink is like my family members who have been together for a long time, so it was a difficult decision to make," adding, "Now I will become another Panda(Apink fan club name) and support Apink."

She added, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made my teens and twenties the most beautiful days in my life."
