SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- Filmmaker Na Hong-jin's "Hope" has been officially invited to the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain.
Distributor Plus M Entertainment said Wednesday that "Hope" has been invited to the Perlak section of the 74th San Sebastian International Film Festival, which will be held from Sept. 18-26.
The San Sebastian International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the Spanish-speaking world. The Perlak section showcases feature films that have not yet been released in Spain but have received acclaim at other international film festivals.
"Hope" was previously invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival and subsequently to the 25th New York Asian Film Festival and the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
Starring Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung and Jung Ho-yeon, "Hope" follows events that unfold after an unidentified creature arrives in Hopo Port, a harbor town near the Demilitarized Zone.
The film was released in South Korea on July 15 and is scheduled to open in North America on Sept. 9.
