SEOUL, August 26 (Yonhap) -- “Although there are no sophisticated actions, unimaginable things happen with the belief of finding her child. So far, there has been no noir movies that female actor was the main lead. I wonder how audiences will take it.”

Regarding the movie “Limit,” Jin Seo-yeon said, “It’s a mom’s version of ‘Taken,’” adding, “I think if you are a mother of a child, you will watch it,” who met with Yonhap NEws Agency at a cafe in Seoul on Thursday.

“Limit,” which wil be released on Aug. 31, is a thriller about child abduction case. Jin Seo-yoen played mother Yeon-joo who fall in despair when her child is abducted. It’s a unique movie where actress such as a police officer and a single mother So-eun (Lee Jeong-hyeon), a ringleader of crime group Hye-jin (Moon Jung-hee) lead the play and do action scenes.

Yeon-joo is not a flat character who looks for her child after abduction. Jin Seo-yeon said, “She is an attractive character in that she does evil things to save her child, her good things.”

The actress acted out mother’s heart-breaking pain when her child was abducted by a criminal group in the beginning of the movie. She said, “I inferred about how would it be like to not know if your child is dead or alive after being abducted, and I figured it would be a pain that cannot be described,” adding, “I thought it was right to act based on how I feel, not how I think.”

She even kept distance with her five-year-old son to prepare for emotional acting. “I stayed away from child since four days before the shooting. I did not eat or go outside but sayed in the hotel and went to the set. Because I am not an smart actress, it takes time to absorb the character.”

Jin Seo-yeon, who debuted through music video in 2003, marks 20th anniversary this year as a veteran actress. Out of all her filmographs, The actress is remembered the most through her role in “Dokjeon” (2018) where she played as an insane drug addict Bo-ryeong.

Jin Seo-yeon said, “I only get more intense and provocative role offers after ‘Dokjeon,’” adding, “I have been steadily acting, and I don’t think I did anything particurally better in ‘Dojkeon’ but I just came under audiences’ observations.”

Bo-ryeon from “Dokjeon” and Yeon-joo from “Limit” are different from typical female characters who have appeared in S.Korean movies. Jin Seo-yeon said, “I have been playing roles where female leads the play or survives ordeals and mostly rejected roles that support a male or play functional role,” adding, “I also want to do desperate love affair mellow acting.”
