SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- HYBE said Thursday it has established a new label specializing in girl group production and plans to debut its first rookie act in the second half of this year.
The new label, named ABD, stands for its brand slogan "A Bold Dream" and reflects the company's philosophy of pursuing flexible thinking that imagines "D instead of C after A and B," HYBE said.
Noh Ji-won, former head of artist planning at HYBE subsidiary Pledis Entertainment, has been appointed chief executive officer of the label.
Having built experience in label management at Pledis and More Vision, Noh will oversee overall management and establish a stable foundation for the label's growth, the company said.
ABD's first girl group will debut later this year under the executive production of Han Sung-soo, master professional at Pledis Entertainment.
Han previously produced K-pop acts including Seventeen, After School, IZ*ONE and TWS at Pledis.
HYBE's existing girl groups under its labels include Le Sserafim of Source Music, NewJeans of ADOR, ILLIT of Belift Lab and Katseye under HYBE Labels.
