SEOUL, Sep. 8 (Yonhap) -- Singer Baek A-yeon, who has been widely loved with her love songs such as “Shouldn’t Have,” “Looking For Love,” has turned her eyes to herself and released a diary-like album.
“Observe,” her 5th mini-album released on the 7th, looks into herself like its title. The track list ㅡ“0%,” “LoneWar” (translated), “Wanna go off track” (translated), “So I have lots of thoughts” (translated) and “Fantasy” (translated) ㅡ is like looking into the artist’s thoughts these days.
“My previous albums used to usually feature one-way loves, but this time, I sang various emotions focusing on ‘myself,’ said the artists on a recent paper interview.
The title song “0%” will be well empathized by those who have gone through corona blue or burn-out.
The realistic lyrics “Just leave me along / nothing happening / that is helps me / right now, I am gaining back energy” (translated) makes the listeners nod their heads.
“For those who have gone through slumps may be able to be comforted with thoughts such as ‘I wasn’t the only one feeling like that,’” said Baek.
Baek took part in writing the lyrics for the ballad track “So I have lots of thoughts.”
The artist will drop the album in a physical form as well which is 8 years. She has also produced photo cards and has arranged a global video chat event for the first time since her debut.
“I wondered maybe I will not be able to release physical albums ever again. In that, I think this album will remain as precious as my debut album,” said Baek.
She initially planned to present the upcoming album in July but put it off because her routes overlapped with a confirmed case of the COVID-19 infection.
“For the first few days, I really wished it were a dream,” said Baek.
But soon, she comforted the fans showing a cheery air through a YouTube video titled “The singer whose album promotion has been postponed because of self-quarantine… It’s me!”
Her voice like a little girl still catches the ears, but she is a veteran singer who has celebrated her 10th debut anniversary.
Baek attracted the audiences ranking top 3 in SBS TV “K-pop Star” in 2011 and signed a contract with JYP Entertainment to debut the next year. After moving to EDEN Entertainment in 2020, she has been active in various fields from releasing singes and participating in OSTs (Original Sound-Track) to be fixed on radio as a guest.
