SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean veteran comic artist Shin Il-sook, known for classic works such as "Four Daughters of Armian" and "Lineage," is set to return with a new webtoon after an eight-year hiatus.

 

The Korea Cartoonists Association announced Tuesday that Shin will serialize her latest work, "Manu's Daughters," through Naver Webtoon.

The new series follows Queen Manu, a divine figure bridging gods and humans, and her daughters, each endowed with unique powers, as they carve out their own destinies.

 

Shin shared that the inspiration for the story dates back nearly 40 years. "I once had a vivid dream and was determined to turn it into a comic," she said. "The story I developed then, blending the dream with Persian war history, became 'Four Daughters of Armian.' But 'Manu's Daughters' is actually closer to the original dream."

 

Shin made her debut in 1984 with "Princess of Lion" and gained popularity during the print comic magazine era with titles like "Lineage" and "Pharaoh’s Lover." In 2017, she entered the digital realm with her first webtoon, "Kaya."
