According to FlixPatrol, an online content service ranking website, on Feb. 7, "All of Us Are Dead" has topped the "TOP TV Shows on Netflix" for 9 days after ranking No. 1 since the day after its release.
The number of countries that ranked No. 1 with the show reached 59 on Feb. 3, and fell slightly to 56 on Feb. 4 and 53 on Feb. 5, but still tops the chart in more than 50 countries.
It has been maintaining the first place in most Asian countries, including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Vietnam, as well as France, Germany, Italy, India, Turkey, Mexico, and Australia. The second place went to "Black Desire," which released its second season, with 514 points on Feb. 2.
Netflix's Korean original series have been named in TOP 10 every time it is released since “Squid Game” made a splash last year.
In particular, series in genres, such as "Hellbound" and "All of Us Are Dead" are in popularity.
Director Yeon Sang-ho's “Hellbound,” which depicts dystopia, also topped the chart a day after its release in November, 2021, and maintained the first place for 10 days since Nov. 22 even though it fell to the second place on Nov. 21.
Kim Sung-soo, a critic of popular culture, said, "Korean genres continue to talk about our society while creating curious and mysterious parts," adding, "The reason that people around the world chose to watch the work is that they felt the story seems to be happening around them.
He then evaluated, "It became possible to become mainstream content through Netflix not just because it's a series in genre, but because it fills up alternatives towards the future with various imaginations while settling down on our daily lives.”
