SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- The exhibition "BMA Collection from Historically Created Relations," a special exhibition consisting of the collections of the Busan Museum of Art, opened on Friday.
This special exhibition held until October 16, allows one to see 50 works showing the history of Korea from the Japanese colonial period till the Korean and Contemporary History.
Humans create an environment for them to live, and the environment changes humans.
This exhibition pays attention to the fact that works of art also do not exist independently in the realm of fine art, but are human products created within the constraints and conditions given by each era.
Woo Shin-chul's work from 1929, "Younggadae" is the earliest Busan art works in the collection of the Busan Museum of Art.
This exhibition will feature works that allows one to look at the Korean history of more than 90 years with works including Woo Shin-chul's "Younggadae," Yang Dal-seok's "Panja-chon" from 1950, and the most recent work, "Pyeondo travel," by Lee Chang-un from 2018.
Information and timeline will be provided in the exhibition hall for the visitors to understand the historical context of Busan art.
Additionally, at the exhibition hall, three interviews with related experts will be screened according to the sub-themes, including "Colonial City Busan," " 'War Specialization and Industrialization', and "Bu-ma Democratic Protests and Workers' Struggle."
History professor, Jeon Seong-hyeon of Dong-A University, humanities and social sciences professor, Park Guen-ho of Shizuoka University, Japan, and Son Young-soo, an education committee of the Busan Regional General Union will be appearing in the interview.
"It is very important to continue researching and reinterpreting the artworks in the collection to find a new context," director Ki Hye-kyung said. "This exhibition will be a work that forms a historical relationship that can expand the status of the museum and the field of activity by connecting Busan art to Korea and the world."
