SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- Tteokbokki coats, ugg boots, and bell-bottoms. Fashion items in the ‘90s to 2000s are back in full force driven by Gen Z (the generation born between 1995-2012).
Fashion trend enjoyed by people in their 30s to 40s are reassessed as unique designs by teens and 20s and brands are launching remake versions of those products, according to Shinsegae, Tuesday.
Last year’s sales of the ugg boots imported and sold by Shinsegae International rose 65% year-on-year.
Ugg boots made from sheepskin were loved as they were called Korea’s favorite footwear.
Since then, the boots began to lose popularity but are rising once again with new products including the Disquette Slipper and the Classic Mini II Boot that come up to the ankle.
Tteokbokki coats (duffle coats), once an essential fashion item for students, are launched by luxury brands including Burberry and Saint Laurent, and short paddings in various colors are rising as the new fashion trend.
The shot padding “Nuptse” collaborated by Shinsegae’s Casestudy and The North face, was sold out on the day of release.
Corduroy products, one of the biggest fashion items of the 90s, are returning with different colors and slim designs.
