SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- An extended version of director Park Chan-wook's film "No Other Choice" will be released Thursday through video-on-demand (VOD) services, making it available on internet protocol television (IPTV) platforms and other streaming services, distributor CJ ENM said Thursday.

Running 157 minutes, the extended edition is 19 minutes longer than the theatrical version and includes scenes that were not shown in cinemas.

Among the newly added sequences are scenes of Man-soo (Lee Byung-hun) and Mi-ri (Son Ye-jin) leaving their daughter Ri-won's cello practice studio, as well as additional episodes set at the dental clinic run by Oh Jin-ho (Yoo Yeon-seok).

The extended cut also refines key scenes, including Man-soo's time at a job training center and everyday moments involving his family, offering a deeper look into the characters' emotions and relationships.

"For audiences who have already seen the film, the extended version will offer the pleasure of discovering something new, while those who have yet to watch it will have a special opportunity to experience a richer, more complete story," CJ ENM said.

Released last year, "No Other Choice" follows Man-soo, a laid-off family man who eliminates potential rivals in his search for a new job. The film is based on Donald E. Westlake's novel "The Ax."

The movie was invited to compete at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival last year and attracted about 2.94 million moviegoers in South Korea.
